Betting Tips for the Smart Punter

Domoulin heading for Time Trial victory

It’s mountain Time Trial day and the organizers have put a brute of a stage on the map, where Tom Domoulin looks like the man to beat and he’s heading for victory in Megeve. Only a handful of riders who can seriously win this stage and Chris Froome leads the betting market, but is too short for us to get involved with, so value is elsewhere. Yesterday we smashed a 12/1 winner and 66/1 second, for a 19 point profit, so let’s keep up the good work today!

Tom Domoulin is 2nd favorite today and the bookies have Froome as the clear man to beat, but let’s not forget Domoulin took over a minute out of Froome on the first TT and although this is hilly he can still make the same sort of gaps on the flat parts, and is a climber in his own right. He’s well worth a bet on the nose for his third stage win of the Tour.

I’m having a couple of big odds bets for places today, and the form from stage 13 is very relevant to placing the bets. Bauke Mollema had a great TT that day and unfortunately lost time on yesterday’s stage, so will be keen for a big day and to keep hold of his 2nd place GC position from the marauding Richie Porte. He was only 1.54 down on Domoulin on stage 13 and this course will suit him better, as long as he keeps his legs then he has a big chance of a place.

Finally a massive priced punt on Sky’s Geraint Thomas. Another great TT performance on stage 13 puts him in with a big shout today. If he can master the pace and not go off too fast the Welshman at 100/1 is a value bet.
